My Experience
I have been working as a Systemic Psychotherapist for nearly 20 years in a variety of settings, including the NHS Children and Mental Health Services, RELATE couple therapy, children’s homes, the YMCA, teaching at the Tavistock Centre and in private practice. I have additional qualifications in:
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing)
This is particularly helpful for working through traumatic events and lessening the symptoms of post-traumatic disorder (PTSD).
IPT (Interpersonal Psychotherapy)
This is specifically designed to help with symptoms of depression both in young people and adults.
A way of supporting parents in particular to regain their authority and reduce their child’s destructive, aggressive or anxious behaviours.
Attachment focused therapy
Based on the work of Bowlby, Ainsworth, Crittenden and Dallos. I draw upon Crittenden’s Developmental Maturational Model (DMM) which helps individuals to recognise their own attachment patterns and how these affect different relationships in their life.
Family Ties
An approach developed within the Anna Freud Centre to support families involved in high conflict separations both in and outside of the family law system.
Internal Family Systems
I have a background in person centred therapy; nursing; sexual health; health visiting and child development. I am experienced in working with individuals, couples or families who experience depression, anxiety, eating disorders, self-harm, chronic illness, trauma, violence and difficult transitions. I am a clinical supervisor and previously taught at the Tavistock Institute as tutor on the Systemic Psychotherapy course.
I have recently trained as an IFS therapist and autism assessor and I am currently completing an advanced course in NVR.
I am a UKCP accredited Systemic Psychotherapist, a member of The Association of Family Therapy (AFT) and DBS checked.
